Tuebrook Library – Liverpool – Heritage Repair

As specialists in ornamental plasterworks and restoration of historic buildings, Whitechapel Art Plaster were honored to be selected to carry out the remedial, ornamental, fibrous and traditional solid lime based plaster works, for the refurbishment of Tuebrook Library Liverpool.

This impressive grand Grade II listed building was opened in 1904 and was donated to the local community by Philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.  After 100 years as a functioning library, the building was closed for health and safety reasons.

The architecture and finishes on some of the Carnegie buildings is of an impressive and high standard, as can be seen on the images displayed in this newsletter.  Ornamental, fibrous, and traditional solid lime based plaster works were carried out by Whitechapel Art Plaster to the Main Hall and Entrance Hall.  The images shown are the areas that have been matched and recreated by Whitechapel Art Plaster as part of the process of refurbishment and remediation.

Whitechapel Art Plaster appreciate and understand the importance of maintaining heritage buildings such as this and used our expertise and traditional methods of craftsmanship to restore the building.  Tuebrook Library will now be brought back to life, to a new high standard and design, implementing new architectural design which blends contemporary with traditional.
