Lime Plaster and Ornamental Restoration Works at Tuebrook Library

Shortly before the national lock down, Whitechapel Art Plaster, in conjunction with Cavalier studios in Stockport, took video footage of the early stages of the renewal; including fibrous plaster, ribbed and corbelled entrance hall, egg and dart cornice, ribbed beam casings, panels, ceiling rose’s, together with traditionally solid plastered walls. Footage was also taken of the barrel (Girls and Boys reading room, ceiling and lime plastered walls). The cornice in the Girls and Boys Reading Room is a large modillion block, with springing corbels which run up into panelled beam casings and central coffered lighting glazed section, divided by fibrous plaster.

As the work of Whitechapel draws to its conclusion on this project, we intend to take footage of the finished sections which will feature as a new promotional video on our upgraded website. The footage will showcase what we offer such as; fibrous plasterwork, solid plasterwork, lime plastering, run in-situ and hand lay up art plaster techniques. Whitechapel Art Plaster also intend to explain through a general upgrade of our company website, how we work alongside main contractors, in this particular case, H. H. Smith along with associated organisations to deal with the heritage and conservation and agreeing appropriate working practices, so that traditional methods of working can be dovetailed with contemporary program requirements.

Within our updated website, we will include footage from our other prestigious contracts, such as the current project at the Greater Manchester Fire Museum. We are also looking to add photos from our domestic contemporary work and installation, where we can produce fibrous and glass reinforced gypsum (GRG) designs to client requirements.
As we expand and improve the company website, we aim to showcase our full product range, which now includes stock ranges of Manchester Decorative Plastering and Ornamental Plastering Designs; formerly part of the Heath Plastering group, of which Whitechapel Art Plaster Co Ltd have procured historical moulds for various stock items.
